Ø AHAI mandates use of neck guards for 2008/09 season - (9/03/08)
The Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois has passed
a resolution that neck guards are mandatory
for the 2008-09 season. Mike Mullally, AHAI President
stated in an email that “AHAI requires the
use of neck guards for every player at all
age levels.” No on ice penalty will be
given, but an incident
report will be filed, followed by a letter to
the club/coach. A second report and a letter of warning
sent to the club/coach that the next offense
is a suspension. The third report is a letter of suspension
to the coach and notice to the club.

Ø Parent & Player – Mandatory meeting scheduled - (8/22/08)
On Saturday September 6th the club will
have our annual mandatory Parent & Player Meeting. This
meeting is required by AHAI and includes each
player and at least one parent or guardian.
Practice
set for 5:40PM to 7PM, Parent meeting to start at 7 with the players and
coaches joining at
the conclusion of
practices. Topics include;
Player/Parent/Coaches Code of conduct, Volunteers needed
for
the season especially JV Manager & Varsity Manager, Schedule for the season
and North Star Cup
tournament
schedule and equipment needs.
7pm Leaf’s Ice
Centre, approximately 1 hr – All Players and at least 1 parent required
Ø Equipment night at Jerry’s Hockey Warehouse - (8/21/08)
Following Day 2 of tryouts Jerry’s Hockey warehouse
will host the annual SCN Hockey Night.
All
equipment will be discounted and North
coaches will be on hand to help in selection of equipment
and proper sizing. Any questions can be directed to coach Quinn.
Ø 2008 – 2009 Season league selected - (8/01/08)
The North Star Hockey club coaches and board have
selected to play the 2008-2009 season in the
Illinois Suburban Hockey League (ISHL). General information can be confirmed at the
league
website www.ishl.us
Ø Registration deadline approaches for the 2008 – 2009 season - (7/21/08)
Player registration for the upcoming season is to be
completed and sent to Registrar Don Pokorny by Friday August 1st.
It is
also necessary to complete the USA Hockey registration on line at www.usahockeyregistration.com
the cost
is $43 and includes the mandatory insurance required
to play hockey in the U.S. Please use
the following forms if
you have not received them already. Registration Letter Registration Form
Do
not forget that physicals are required by ISHL.

Mark your calendar for the 2008 high school preseason
North Star Cup hockey tournament.
September 11 - 14, 2008 at the Leaf's Ice
Centre in West Dundee, IL. The tournament will take place
Friday through Sunday and is open to High
School Varsity & Junior Varsity teams.
